Teetotaler’s Delight

We all want to feel included in the party… so, whether you are the designated driver, sober for a reason, or just choose not to drink alcohol, here’s some options to keep you in the party atmosphere!

Bartenders are well equipped with options, just ask. Be sure they put your “mocktail” in a cocktail glass and no one will know the difference.

Let’s use our imaginations to see how many “mocktails” a bartender may be able to whip up for you using only the standard contents behind a typical bar, for example:

  • Cranberry, orange, strawberry, pineapple, apple, grape, lime, lemon, or coconut juice
  • Soda water, sparkling water, or Ginger Ale
  • Lemon, lime, or orange wedges
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice and a blender

A fully stocked bar? Great! Here are a few mocktail mixes you can ask for:

apple cider juice

lime juice

Strawberry juice

A few drops of lime juice

Mixed berry juices

Lemon juice

2 ounces cranberry juice

Splash Rose’s sweetened lime juice

Club soda to taste

Lime wedge or twist to garnish

Fill highball glass with ice. Pour in juices and top with club soda. Alternately, fill cocktail shaker with ice and shake juices until chilled, then pour into martini glass and top with club soda. Add lime garnish.

1 ½ oz. sour mix

½ oz. lime juice

½ oz. orange juice

Lime wedges, for garnish

Pour ingredients (minus the lime wedges) into a cocktail shaker. Shake and pour into a rocks glass or a margarita glass. Add more ice if needed. Alternative is to blend in a blender with ice. Garnish with a wedge of lime.
